Dr. Sun Jones, DNP, RN, FNP-BC
Dr. Jones is a bilingual primary care provider who has served her Korean community as a family nurse practitioner for over 22 years. Dr. Jones received her Doctor of Nursing Practice in 2010 and Master of Science in Nursing degree in Family Nurse Practitioner in 2001 from Arizona State University. She is a Systematic Plan of Program and Curriculum Evaluator at the University of Phoenix. Since 2011, Dr. Jones has been an associate faculty for the University of Phoenix in AZ and Simmon’s University in Boston and is serving a subject matter expert for several Family Nurse Practitioner courses. Dr. Jones is a contributing author to the Journey to Equity book published by ANA and was featured in multiple TV shows and news articles. Dr. Jones has presented and spoken internationally, nationally, and locally on different family nurse practitioner practice topics.
Dr. Jones is a mentor and a community leader. She has mentored many FNP students from several schools and received a Family Nurse Practitioner Preceptor of the Year award from Arizona State University. Dr. Jones founded the Arizona Korean Nurses Association in 2010 and a nonprofit organization, Korean American Nurses Foundation, in 2021 to serve the Arizona Asian and Pacific Islander communities to improve their health and healthcare access. She has led multiple healthcare seminars and clinics. For her services and leadership, she won awards internationally and locally. Dr. Jones was recognized and awarded the Arizona March of Dimes Heroes in Action Nurse of the Year Award in the Leadership Category in 2022. Dr. Jones and her sister, Dr. Sun Wright, received the Arizona Governor’s Volunteer Service Awards for Pandemic Response and a commendation from the formal Governor Doug Ducey in 2022 for providing multiple COVID-19 vaccination clinics serving over 3000 minority community members.
