Amber Porter is a doctoral-prepared family nurse practitioner and currently the director of immersion for US University. She has focused her clinical practice of 11 years as an NP on caring for those in healthcare transitions and in chronic illness. She brings over 30 years of nursing experience and is active in the community serving on boards and representing the voice of nurse practitioners on chapter 9 board of AZNA. She has a heart for advocacy, both for her profession and her patients.
Dr. Teri Pipe is Arizona State University's Chief Well-Being Officer. Formerly Dr. Pipe served as the Dean of the College of Nursing and Health Innovation at Arizona State University (ASU). She also is the founding director of ASU's Center for Mindfulness, Compassion and Resilience. Before coming to ASU in 2011, Dr. Pipe served as director of Nursing Research and Innovation at Mayo Clinic Arizona and was an associate professor of nursing at the Mayo Clinic’s College of Medicine. In 2014 she was selected as a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Executive Nurse Fellow.
Dr. Pipe is an expert on mindfulness which is a skill set to increase the ability to experience being fully present, focused and alive. Mindfulness has important implications for resilience within and beyond the healthcare and higher education sectors. Dr. Pipe is an expert on nursing leadership with a focus on interprofessionalism, bringing nurses together with physicians and other health professionals, business people, and policy makers, to help redesign and improve health in the U.S. Her research interests include: mindfulness, resilience in professional and clinical populations, health promotion and wellness, positive coping and stress management, oncology, and gerontology. She is a sought after speaker on the topics of mindfulness, workforce resilience and self-compassion.
Dr. Pipe earned her PhD in health policy and administration with a minor in gerontology from Pennsylvania State University, a master’s degree in nursing with an emphasis in gerontology from the University of Arizona, and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Iowa.
Will Humble is a long-time public health enthusiast and is currently the Executive Director for the Arizona Public Health Association (AzPHA). His 30 years in public health include more than 2 decades at the Arizona Department of Health Services, where he served in various roles including as the Director from 2009 to 2015. He continues it be involved in health policy in his role as the Executive Director for the Arizona Public Health Association.
He has a BS in Marketing from NAU, a BS in Microbiology from ASU, and an MPH from the University of California at Berkeley. He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Science from the U of A for engaging partnerships between academic and executive public health.
Will is a believer in using evidence-based health policy to improve health outcomes and in leading and managing with emotional intelligence.
Vicki Buchda, MS, RN, NEA-BC serves as the Director, Care Improvement for the Arizona Hospital and Healthcare Association. In this role she is responsible for contributing to the organization’s mission: “Making Arizona the healthiest state in the Nation” by leading collaboratives to improve patient safety and reduce harm in hospitals, improve the patient and family experience, improve healthcare outcomes, and decrease costs to all Arizonians. She is a highly skilled professional with demonstrated expertise in clinical and system leadership. Vicki is passionate about harm prevention, including harm from opioids, and advance care planning. Vicki has served in nursing and leadership roles within health systems including Mayo Clinic, Hawaii Pacific Health and Banner Health.
Tomi has 30 + years of professional experience that includes EMS, emergency nursing and injury prevention. She served for 14 years at ADHS as Office Chief of Injury Prevention and a brief stint with the University of Arizona Center for Toxicology, Pharmacology, Education and Research. She has a deep appreciation for building relationships and networks that support nursing and the health and safety of Arizonans. With a focus on eliminating duplication of effort, she is a connector of people, ideas and resources across all communities that is inclusive of tribal and rural. Tomi earned her Master's degree in Nursing from the University of Arizona. In 2007, Tomi was inducted into the Academy of Emergency Nursing. In 2015, she was selected as one of 25 Public Health Nurse Leaders by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
In June 2020, Tomi accepted a part time role with the Navajo County Public Health Services District as a contact tracer.
Heather M. Ross, PhD, DNP, ANP-BC is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Arizona State University in the Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation and the College of Global Futures where she teaches courses in health policy, science and technology policy, health equity, and social justice, and contributes to the ASU COVID epidemiology modeling team. Dr. Ross is a Special Advisor to Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego in areas related to public health, behavioral health, public safety, and dementia. She maintains a clinical practice as a nurse practitioner in cardiac electrophysiology at Honor Health Cardiac Arrhythmia Group.

The AzNA PAC is an organization whose members have contributed money to the PAC. It is overseen by a fifteen member Board of Trustees elected by the PAC membership. AzNA PAC endorses candidates for the AZ legislature based upon the principles of the AzNA Public Policy Agenda.
